GoalHow to Remove and Replace the SPARC T4-1B & Netra SPARC T4-1B Server Module Assembly ******************************************************************************** SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Failed SPARC/NETRA T4-1B server module assembly WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : NOTE: When possible, prior to replacement login to the ILOM/SP and check the reported version of System Firmware. If the server is running 8.9.5-8.9.5.a, update the System Firmware to 8.9.8 then proceed with replacement. This is to avoid running into "Error Reading Keyswitch Value" due to Bug 24489657.
DAMAGE ALERT: Perform a visual inspection of the replacement part to make sure that there are no damaged components, connectors, bent pins, damaged packages during shipping, etc. If the part is damaged, don't install it into the system, order a new part. Handle with caution and package carefully the return part to avoid any damages during shipping.
NOTE: The LDOM configuration data (if any exists) needs to be saved before Server Module replacement to avoid loss of LDOM configuration, refer to doc 1019720.1 for details. Shut Down the Oracle Solaris OS 1. Prepare to take all ESD precautions when working with both the original server module and the new enclosure assembly. Oracle Support can perform this activity remotely via shared shell / Webex / Oracle Beehive, otherwise it will need to be performed by an Oracle/Partner FSE) Look for more information at below docs:
Note - The replacement enclosure assembly does not have a label with the serial number on the front of the system, as was present on the original server module. Update any customer database that contains RFID data to include data from the RFID on the new enclosure assembly. The RFID on the original server module contained different values. NOTE: If the service processor detects the host firmware on the replacement blade is not compatible with the existing service processor firmware, further action will be suspended and the following message will be displayed: If you see the preceding message, continue to Step 19. Otherwise, skip the step. 19. Download the system firmware. NOTE: In case the FW upgrade via ILOM BUI fails, please use the CLI method (see example in doc 2019500.1). You may need a source of TFTP in order to upgrade firmware via CLI commands, for details refer to: Solaris[TM] Operating System: How to set-up a TFTP server. (Doc ID 1004474.1). See also doc 2076315.1 in References. Boot system and monitor boot sequence for errors. Test functionality of system: 1. Run the Solaris "fmadm faulty" and SP/ILOM "show faulty" command (if only ALOM is supported run "showfaults -v" command) to verify that the fault has been cleared. https://support.oracle.com/handbook_partner/Systems/SPARC_T4_1B/components.html https://support.oracle.com/handbook_partner/Systems/Netra_T4_1B/components.html
