Goal
This document describes how to circumvent a problem with DOP display and Internet Explorer version 8 or
Firefox version 3.2.07.
Solution
Problem:
When using Internet Explorer version 8 (IE8) the DOP “FRU Status” display flashes. The display flashes frequently enough to be unusable. A second symptom is that the buttons on the displays are smaller – still fully functional but smaller (not a significant concern). These symptoms are seen most frequently when using DOP via SDP but can also be seen when using the 'localhost' connection via some other path (intranet, switches, etc.).
You could also experience displays that do not display the proper information or nothing at all.
Workaround for IE8
IE8 includes the ability to run the browser in Compatibility View which causes IE8 to display the content as though it were an older version of Internet Explorer.
To enable Compatibility View:
1. Click on Tools
2. In the drop down menu that appears click on Compatibility View
Once the workaround has been applied in IE8 it will remember to use Compatibility View the next time you access that site. Consequently you may only have to enable Compatibility View a couple times (for site “127.0.0.1” and for “localhost”) and then find that future connections will not be a problem due to the fact that IE8 remembers how to display those sites.
3. If the Compatibily View setting cannot be found, then try looking up the Microsoft solution from Google or any other search engine.
Workaround for Firefox
Upgrade to Firefox version 3.5.11
Latest version of Firefox to use is Oracle update 24.7.0 for Firefox as of 8/31/2014. There is no 'compatibility view' for Firefox.

No fix is planned as of the time of this writing.
