This document describes the basic ZFS Appliance Kit Software update order.

It is highly recommended to refer to the Release Notes of individual AK firmware releases ( Doc: 2021771.1 )

Solution

This matrix shows the Array Appliance Kit software upgrade order and is helpful when upgrading from old version to higher version.

Firmware oder than 2010.Q1.3 is not available for customer to download

** 2010.Q1.3

Download to your desktop and Upload to the SR 3-xxxxxxxxxx

2009.Q2 and older software to the 2010.Q3 release is not supported.
2009.Q2.x ---> 2010.Q3 ( not supported )

So upgrade path should be :
2009.Q2.5.1 (2009.04.10.5.1) --> 2010.Q3.2.1 (2010.08.17.2.1)
At this revision or older 2010.Q1(2010.08.17.2.0) --> 2010.Q3.2.1 (2010.08.17.2.1)

If using 2009.Q3 or higher then upgrade path should be :
2009.Q3 (2009.09.01.0.0) --> 2010.Q3 (2010.08.17.2.1) --> see below tables.

Appliance Kit Software:

Please install the current revision of the Appliance Kit Software to allow phone home and support bundle uploads to Oracle.
Feature fixed 20205249 appliance needs to handle 11 digit SR numbers (20245073)

The minimum software version from which you can upgrade to 2013.1.5.0 is 2011.1.9.3 for 7x20 and ZS3-x product
The minimum software version from which you can upgrade to 2013.1.3.0 is 2011.1.4.2 for 7x20 and ZS3-x product
2013.1.0.1 or higher - "J4400 and J4500 disk shelves are not supported in this release"
The minimum software version from which you can upgrade to 2011.1.9.3 is 2011.1.4.2 for 7x10 product

1. 2010.Q3.2.1 / ak-2010.08.17.2.1 Patch 11887647

2. 2010.Q3.4.2 / ak-2010.08.17.4.2 Patch 13065476

3. 2011.1.4.2 / ak-2011.04.24.4.2 Patch 15750578

4. 2013.1.2.0 / Patch 19004324

** If upgrading from 2011.1.4.2 to 2013.1.5.6 then an intermediate upgrade to 2011.1.9.3 (Patch 21329177) is also needed.
Else you can directly upgrade from 2011.1.4.2 to 2013.1.2.0 then to 2013.1.6.2 or later.

5. 2013.1.6.2 Patch 24436097 or later

Minimum Supported versions :

Minimum supported version is the oldest version which is supported by Oracle Technical Support for troubleshooting purpose.
It is advised to use the latest version which incorporates the fixes for the known issues or bugs and improvements.
