How to Replace a Sun Fire X4600, X4600 M2 Fan Module.

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A Sun Fire X4600, X4600 M2 Fan Module needs replacement

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

This Fan Module is a hot-swappable CRU

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Caution - Do not operate the server for more than 60 seconds without all four fans in place. Always replaced a failed fan as soon as possible.
======================================================



1. Identify the Fan Module (FT1- FT4) which requires replacement
Refer to the Service Manual for the specific position of Fan.

2. Remove the Fan Module from the chassis
Pinch both plastic securing buttons toward the center of the fan tray, and simultaneously lift the fan tray up and out of the chassis

3. Insert the new Fan Module into the chassis within 60 seconds after removal of the faulty fan module.

Push down gently until the connector is fully engaged and the plastic securing buttons snap into place.

How to verify the Fan Module working properly.

log in ILOM to confirm if any error related Fan Module.

note:the "x" means which Fan Module number your replaced
