Goal

The goal for this document is to demonstrate how to identify initiator CHAP name on ZFS Storage Appliance (ZFSSA).

Solution

The initiator CHAP name and secret need to be correctly set to allow the appliance to authenticate the initiator. The following procedure demonstrates how this can be checked.

1. Log on to the appliance CLI

solaris$ ssh -l root 192.168.150.21
Password:
oratkyar1:>

2. Check CHAP name by following the steps below.

The CHAP secret will be displayed as **** for security.
We have no way of extracting the CHAP secret thus it will need to be set again should it be forgotten.

oratkyar1:configuration san initiators> iscsi
oratkyar1:configuration san initiators iscsi> show
Initiators:

NAME ALIAS
initiator-000 solinit1
|
+-> INITIATOR
iqn.1986-03.com.sun:01:c0daaf0801ff.4eb8f65f

Children:
groups => Manage groups

oratkyar1:configuration san initiators iscsi> select initiator-000
oratkyar1:configuration san initiators iscsi initiator-000> show
Properties:
alias = solinit1
initiator = iqn.1986-03.com.sun:01:c0daaf0801ff.4eb8f65f
chapuser = init_chapuser
chapsecret = *************
