How to remove and replace a T5440 Fan Tray

WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?: No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure

REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Fan tray failure
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : N/A (Fan Trays are hot-swappable)
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:
A) Remove a Fan Tray
1. Extend the server to the maintenance position.
2. Lift the latch and open the top cover door.
3. The faulty fan tray is identified with a corresponding fault LED.
4. Press the fan tray latches toward the center of the fan tray and pull the fan tray up and out of the system until you remove the fan tray from the chassis.
B) Install a Fan Tray
1. With the top cover door open, install the replacement fan tray into the server.
2. Apply firm pressure to fully seat the fan tray.
3. Verify that the Fan Fault LED on the replaced fan tray is off.
4. Close the top cover door.
5. Verify that the system Fan Fault LED, Service Required LEDs, and the individual fan tray Fault LED are off.
6. Run the ILOM 'show faulty' command to verify that the fan fault has been cleared.
NOTE: If you are replacing a faulty fan tray due to an overtemperature condition, monitor the system to ensure proper cooling.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
