Goal

This article describes the process to update the Axiom Compatibility Matrix separately from a normal software upgrade. This article applies to AxiomOne Release R4

To discuss this information further with Oracle experts and industry peers, we encourage you to review, join or start a discussion in the My Oracle Support Community - Disk Storage Pillar Axiom System

Solution

Prerequisites

This process assumes you have a user account to log into the Axiom GUI, and a user account to log into support.oracle.com

In order to download the compatibility matrix you must know the Axiom Model and the software release that is installed on the Axiom.

Log into the Axiom GUI and click "System" tab -> click "Summary".  In the main page will display the Model which will be either AX600, AX500, or AX300.

To check the Axiom software Release installed, in the Axiom GUI click "Support" tab -> from the left menu select "Software Modules".  In the main page under "Software Modules" look for "Pilot Software" and note down the Installed Version.

Knowing this information you can download the correct Compatibility Matrix. Log into support.oracle.com -> click "Patches & Updates" tab.  Under "Patch Search" click "Product or Family (Advanced)" link.

Under Product select Pillar Axiom 600/500/300 Storage System (this is dependent on which Model the Axiom uses seen in the GUI).  For example, in the Axiom GUI if you find your Axiom model is AX600 you will select Pillar Axiom 600 Storage System.

Under Release select the Software Release the Axiom is currently using.  For example, in the Axiom GUI if you find your Axiom Pilot Software is 04.06.18, then the release selected should be AX600 4.6.18.

Click the "Search" button to view the search results.

NOTE: If the Classification shows "Controlled" you must contact Customer Support to get a password to download the Compatibility Matrix file.

Click on the Patch Name link and choose "Download", download only the 1of3.zip file.  Extract the 1of3.zip file and you will see a Ax<Model>_NP_<Software_Release>NP.tgz filename, this is the compatibility matrix to use.

Install Package On The Axiom

1) Log into the Axiom and proceed to the Support-->Software Modules section

2) Select Update Software from the drop-down action list at the bottom of the page.

3) To proceed to stage the package, click Upload Package at the top of the page

4) In the space provided at File Name:, enter the path to the package downloaded earlier.
Click OK. The package will be uploaded and processed.

5) After a few moments, the processing will complete and the new Compatibility Matrix will be installed

6) Click OK to proceed

7) You will be returned to the same screen as in step 3, prior to the package upload.

8) Since there are no actual software to upgrade, you are done.

9) Click Cancel to exit the Update Software section.

Next Task to Perform

At this point, verify the Compatibility Matrix version displayed toward the bottom of the page.

It should match the version of the package you have downloaded and installed. If it does not, please contact Oracle Support for further assistance.
