Drive must be offline to software application and server. Drive must be powered down and then connected to a computer that must have HP LTT application installed. And then drive must be powered up for the diagnostic.

Download the LTT tool from the following KB: HP LTO - Where to Find and Download the HP LTO Library and Tape Test Diagnostic Tool (Doc ID 1014570.1)

The LTT application can be acquired from a L1 or L2 Tape Technical Support Center Representative.

1. Drive needs to have a Tape in to run the Diagnostics, You can Mount a Tape with SLConsole for SL-series libraries, or through the Library console in L-series.

**ATTENTION Information on the media will be deleted so the customer's media should never be used**

2. Connect the Drive to the FC or scsi HBA on the computer.

5. Click On the "Test" tab at the top of the tool.
6. On Test Group drop down select "LTO Drive Assessment Test".

Note: This test runs several tests and will show if the drive is good to use or if the drive should be replaced.
Note: If the test Fails you will be prompted to run the test again with a different piece of media.
