Goal
Describe what label types are available for T10000 Cleaning Media.
Solution
There are two generations of cleaning media:
Type 1 - Can only be used for T10000 and T10000B drives. It can be identified as it does not have T2 silk-screened onto the cartridge from the manufacturer. This cartridge type can only use a CT label type. These cartridges are no longer being manufactured.
Type 2 - This is the current cleaning cartridge being manufactured. It can be used to clean a T10000A, T10000B, or T10000C drive. It will have T2 silk-screened onto the cartridge from the manufacturer.When a customer orders one or more cleaning tapes they will get a T2 cleaning cartridge. If they want them pre-labeled they will have a choice of either a CL or CT pre-printed bar-code label.
Types of cleaning labels and usage:
CT - This denotes that the cartridge is either a T1 or T2 cartridge and can be used to clean a T10000A or T10000B drives only. There is no library firmware restriction associated with this label type. The T10KT2 cleaning media with CT label can be ordered via IMD. This is the same process for all labeled media for T10000A/B drives.
CL - This denotes that the cartridge is a T2 cartridge and can be used to clean a T10000A, T10000B, T10000C or a T10000D drive. The caveat for using the CL label type is that you must be running on SL8500 firmware 6.x or higher. In other words library firmware 4.7x will not recognize this label type.
CC - This denotes that the cartridge is a T2 cartridge and can be used to clean a T10000C drive. 4.7x Library code will recognize this label type. This type is not available as a pre-printed label. If this label type is needed the customer must print their own labels.
Note:
Both ACSLS and HCS will recognize all three label types if they are at a level that supports the T10000C product.
