Goal

Provide a method of determining a 371-4522-01 module from Linux O/S on X86/X64 "Blade server" architecture ie SB 6000 and X4800 (M2)

Solution

1) Run command lspci

There are 7 entries associated with the 371-4522 module, for example:

0d:00.0 PCI bridge: Integrated Device Technology, Inc. PES16T4A/4T4G2 PCI Express Gen2 Switch (rev 02)
0e:02.0 PCI bridge: Integrated Device Technology, Inc. PES16T4A/4T4G2 PCI Express Gen2 Switch (rev 02)
0e:03.0 PCI bridge: Integrated Device Technology, Inc. PES16T4A/4T4G2 PCI Express Gen2 Switch (rev 02)
0f:00.0 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2532-based 8Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 02)
0f:00.1 Fibre Channel: QLogic Corp. ISP2532-based 8Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA (rev 02)
10:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 06)
10:00.1 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 06)

2) Select the first entry for the IDT switch and note the bus, device function value
In the above example this is 0d:00.0

3) Run the following command lspci -vv -s bus:device:function | grep LnkCtl2

In the above example this is

lspci -vv -s 0d:00.0 | grep LnkCtl2

4) On a Rev 1 module the output is

LnkCtl2: Target Link Speed: 5GT/s, EnterCompliance- SpeedDis-, Selectable De-emphasis: -6dB

On a Rev 2 module the output is

LnkCtl2: Target Link Speed: 2.5GT/s, EnterCompliance- SpeedDis-, Selectable De-emphasis: -6dB

5) Note as per document <Document: 1303679.1>

8GB Dual HBA PCIe (Metis) correctable errors on Blade servers.
This should be confirmed by physically checking the card.
This document also explains the reason for the speed difference.
