Goal
Solution

Oracle Confidential PARTNER - Available to partners (SUN).
Reason: Change in Procedure for Upgrade of SL-Series Code

Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

SDP/SNMP configuration-based procedure change prior to performing any library firmware upgrade/downgrade.

Solution

Prior to performing the actual library firmware upgrade/downgrade:

1. Remove any and all pre-existing SDP specified SNMP trap-recipient configurations. This is to absolutely remove any dependency on an 'old' IP alias between firmware revision changes.
2. Perform the desired download and activation.
3. Upon normal system reboot after activation, revise the complex ID to the desired value. This sets the internal LAN IP alias to the intended SDP VLAN port switch connection setting.
4. Add the SDP trap-recipient using the intended IP alias subnet for that particular release.
    a. For pre-RE firmware, this will be the 10.0.11.0 subnet.
    b. For post-RE firmware, this will be the 10.x+2.11.0 subnet.
