GoalHow to Remove / Replace the MPC/MPCL Card in L180/L700x/L1400 Library.SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED: Knowledge of the STK L-Series Libraries - TIME ESTIMATE: 90 minutes - TASK COMPLEXITY: 2 FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS: - PROBLEM OVERVIEW: MPC/MPCL is not functioning, requiring replacement of the card. - WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: All jobs to the library and drives must be stopped. The library needs to be powered off. - WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE: Refer to the L700x/L1400 Service Manual for complete instructions to replace the MPC/MPCL card. This will include Pictures, Notes and Cautions for your assistance. http://download-adc.oracle.com/archive/cd_ns/E21089_01/CRCM2262/CRCM2262.pdf MPC/MPCL Card Removal: Depending on the tape library's features, you may need to remove the MPM card and MPV before removing the MPC/MPCL card. Refer to the service manual for instructions on removal and replacement of these components. 1. Disconnect the SCSU Y cable from the MPC/MPCL card, making sure to mote whether it connects to the single-ended or differential connector. 2. Using a Torx T15 driver, remove the six electronics module cover screws and remove the cover. 3.Disconnect the P/J36, P/J24, P/J53, P/J MPK connector, if present, P/J570, P/J571, P/J551, and P/J43 connectors from the MPC/MPCL card, making sure to note where each cable is connected. 4. Using a Torx T10 driver, remover the 13 MPC/MPCL card screws. 5. Using a 1/4-in. hex driver, remove the four standoffs, making sure to note each standoff's location. 6. Using a 3/16-in hex driver, remove the two hex nuts attaching the J19D jack to the library frame. 7. Carefully remove the MPC/MPCL card either by pulling it out through the front or sliding it to the right. MPC/MPCL Card Replacement: 1. Remove the MPC/MPCL card assembly from the anti-static bag. 2. Using a 3/16-in. hex driver, attach the J19D jack to the library frame. 3. Using a 1/4-in. hex drive attach the four standoffs. 4. Using a Torx T10 driver, attach the 13 MPC/MPCL card screws. 5. Connect the P/J36, P/J24, P/J53, P/J MPK connector, if present, P/J570, P/J571, P/J551, and P/J43 connectors to the MPC/MPCL card, making sure they are in the correct postion. 6. Use six Torx T15 screws on the front and two on the side to attach the cover. 7. Connect the SCSI Y cable to the MPC/MPCL card. 8. Now configure the library. 9. Return the system to operation. OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE - WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Make sure the library powers up and the OS and Software Application can access the drives.
