Goal

How to remove and replace a failed power distribution unit (PDU) in an SL8500 library.

Fix

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
   Knowledgeable on the SL8500 library hardware.

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW
   Failed power distribution unit (PDU)

- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?
   Library must be offline to Host and ACSLS/HSC when only 1 PDU is involved.

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Removing the PDU:
1.  Open the library rear doors.
2.  If only one PDU is present, ask the operator to place the library offline to the Host/ACSLS
3.  Set PDU circuit breaker to OFF(down).
     NOTE:  The N+1 PDU assembly does not have circuit breakers
4.  Remove T25 screws securing the PDU.
5.  Pull the PDU, by the hand hold, straight out to unseat the connectors, and remove the PDU assembly
     completely out of the slot.

Replacing the PDU:
1. Set the replacement PDU circuit breaker to OFF(down).
2. Position the replacement PDU in the slot, then push it fully into the slot to seat the connectors.
3. Insert and tighten two T25 screws to secure the PDU.
    Note: There is one screw at the top and one screw at the bottom.
4. Set the replacement PDU circuit breaker to ON(up)
5. Verify PDU LEDs are ON.
    NOTE: The N+1 PDU does not have LEDs.
6. Close the library rear doors.
7. If necessary, ask the operator to place the library online to the Host/ACSLS.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
   Verify library is completely online and all power is good via the Op Panel
