Applies to:Sun StorageTek VTL Plus Storage Appliance - Version: 1.0 - Build 1323 to 2.0 - Build 1656 - Release: 1.0 to 2.0Sun StorageTek VTL Prime System - Version: 1.0 - Build 1813 to 1.1 - Build 2076 [Release: 1.0 to 1.0] Sun StorageTek VTL Value System - Version: 1.0 - Build 1323 to 1.0 - Build 1323 [Release: 1.0 to 1.0] Sun StorageTek VTL Storage Appliance - Version: 4.0 - Build 1221 to 4.0 - Build 1221 [Release: 4.0 to 4.0] Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server x86-64 (AMD Opteron Architecture) Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit) GoalTo gather Xrays and supportdata to perform a health check should there be no remote access, and/or for dedicated FSE sites to perform a health check on site.SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED: VTL experience, Santricity - TIME ESTIMATE: 120 minutes - TASK COMPLEXITY: 1 FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS: - PROBLEM OVERVIEW TSC and/or the field engineers cannot access the server and logs need to be gathered locally for analysis. - WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? Leave the system powered on - WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Go on site and gain access to VTL server command line to gather Xray(s) either from an ssh session or from the local server VTL Console (refer to KM 1146464.1). 2. Using SANtricity or CAM, gain access to the VTL attached disk array and collect All supportdata for each controller (refer to KM 1014074.1). 3. If dedicated FSE is performing health check: a) Perform VTL system health check utilizing VTL GUI Console (refer to KM 1308603.1) b) Perform Disk Array health check utilizing SANtricity or CAM (refer to online help in SANtricity or CAM) c) If any issues are discovered, open new SR for TSC to investigate. 4. If no dedicated FSE, send logs into TSC for health check (attach to SR or upload to supportfiles ftp site). OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE - WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Once logs are reviewed and/or health check is performed, any actions required will be communicated at that time.
