Goal
Implementing an ACSLS for SL8500 with Dual TCP/IP and Redundant Electronics.
I have not used Redundant Electronics feature before and got confused looking through the manuals.
Need to clarify a few points.
Solution
* Network Configuration
What are the best practices for network configuration when using both Dual TCP/IP and Redundant Electronics?
Should we place both Primary-2B and Redundant-2B on the same subnet, with both 2A ports going to another subnet (as per Dual-TCP/IP configuration recommendations)?
Yes - this is a good best practice.
* ACSLS Configuration
How do we let ACSLS know of the RE ports existence? Should I specify 4 (instead of 2) ACS connections when asked "Number of connections to ACS #0:" ?
Yes specify 4 connections to ACS 0 in the acsss_config. ACSLS supports up 16 connections to an ACS (library complex). After you reply '4' connections, you will be prompted to enter the ip address (or host name) of each connection.
* Management & Monitoring
As only one card is active at a time, how do we configure SDP (service delivery platform) and SL Console to communicate to the library - trying out both addresses, whichever works ?
The 'query lmu all' command from ACSLS will tell you which side is currently active. From there you will know which ip address to use to SL Console into the library with.
