How to Replace Sun Fire X2270 M2 Memory DIMM.

Solution

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:

RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1 Prepare the server for service. See How to Prepare for Service.
2 Remove the air duct. See How to Remove the Air Duct.
3 Locate the DIMM socket in which you want to install or replace a memory module. See DIMM Slot Designations.
4 Eject the DIMM from the slot by simultaneously pressing down on the ejector levers at both ends of the DIMM socket.
This action releases the DIMM from the slot.
5 To remove the DIMM, lift it up and out of the socket.
6 Install the replacement DIMM ensuring that the DIMM is properly rotated to allow the "key" to sit correctly.
7 Replace the air duct and replace the top cover.
8 Return the server to operation. See How to Prepare for Operation

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Power on and boot the system.
