Symptoms:
When upgrading drives using VOP, experiencing error 'File transfer does not complete' and upgrade does not complete.
Cause:
Having McAfee enabled on your laptop will cause this to occur. This is more common with newer laptops being used to upgrade firmware on drives using VOP.
Solution:
You must disable McAfee on your laptop in order to perform/complete the drive firmware upgrades using VOP. Also please be advised that McAfee may automatically re-enable itself after about fifteen minutes so you may have to disable it multiple times depending on how many tape drives are being upgraded.

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS*
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Trained on Oracle/STK tape drives along with SCSI Toolbox, STDS Win and/or VOP
DELIVERY REQUIREMENT:
Scheduled with Maintenance window.
TASK COMPLEXITY: 2
TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes
*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Tape Drive requires Firmware upgrade. This could be due to known issues resolved with more current code or drive is very down-level on code.
CONFIRM THE FAULT BY CHECKING:
Verify level of firmware in drive via Op Panel, SL Console or Drive Diagnostic Utility as in VOP, SCSI/FC Toolbox, or STDS Win.
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Contact customer to schedule Firmware upgrade.
1. Locate and download the appropriate drive microcode binaries for drive model, host OS, and interface
from: System Assurance Center (SAC)
https://sac.us.oracle.com/download/index.html
2. Use STDS Win, VOP, or SCSI/FC Toolbox to install code.
The STDS or VOP application can be launched with your PC directly attached to a drive, using a cross-over Ethernet cable and the default static IP; or, with your PC attached to the SDP private network, using a straight Ethernet cable.
2a. STDS Download and Update of Firmware
Update drive firmware using the Download Firmware menu option in STDS. See attached file for specific instruction.
2b. VOP Download and Update of Firmware
Update drive firmware using the Configure menu option of VOP. This can be done with either tape or file. See attached file for specific instruction.
2c. SCSI/Fibre ToolBox Download and Update of Firmware
Update drive firmware using the Tape Commands menu option of Scsi/Fibre ToolBox. See attached file for specific instruction.
Note:
See the STDS Help menu, and the VOP and SCSI/Fibre ToolBox User’s Guides for figures illustrating menu options to update firmware. Links to these manuals can be found below, or in the Oracle System Handbook.
CONFIRM THE FIX BY:
After code is loaded to the drive, verify functionality by running diagnostics to the drive. Once completed, verify firmware level via Op Panel, SL Console or Drive Diagnostic Utility as in VOP, STDS Win, or SCSI/FC Toolbox.
See the Virtual Operator Panel User's Guide (Service Representative version) for VOP guidelines.
See the StorageTek Diagnostic System help menu for STDS guidelines.
See the SCSI/FC Toolbox User’s Guide for SCSI/FC Toolbox guidelines.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Have customer bring drive online to the OS and software application. Verify functionality by running R/W test and check code level via the SL Console.
