DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Familiarity with J4400 & VLE
TIME ESTIMATE: 150 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 2
FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Quiesce all IO between VTSS and the VLE storage appliance.
To quiesce IO between VTSS and the VLE storage appliance, vary offline all of the virtual real tape drives (vRTDs). With
the vRTDs offline, no migrations or recalls will occur. If a VTV is being migrated at the time, it should be
allowed to complete. VTVs queued to be migrated will remain queued. That may result in some
repetitive error messages from VTCS (e.g. no RTDs available).
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Connecting to another J4400/J4200
Locate the SIM Link Out port on the tray (Tray 0) attached to the data host
Locate the Host or SIM Link In port of the second tray (Tray 1)
Cable these two trays together with the provided mini-SAS cable.
Disconnecting
Grasp the metal body of the connector with one hand, and use your other hand to firmly grasp and pull the tab.
Pull the tab gently toward the connector body, and, then with your other hand, extract the connector from the bulkhead. Do not twist the tab or pull it in any direction other than parallel with the connector body. If the tab breaks, use a small sharp object (such as a fine-tipped screwdriver) to lift the metal spring at the top of the connector shell to unlatch it
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Vary online all of the vRTDs taken offline prior to replacement of the mini SAS cable.
