FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW: PCI Fan Tray Failure
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge
1. Power off the system
2. Slide the system out of the cabinet
3. Remove top cover
4. Pull the PCI fan tray up and out of the system
5. Install the replacement fan tray by aligning the tabs with the corresponding slots in the chassis and inserting the fan tray into the system until firmly seated
6. Replace the top cover and slide the system back into the cabinet.
7. Power on the system.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
