Goal

HP drive dumps via LTT (HP Storageworks Library and Tape Tool) now have real-time time stamps.

Solution

This requires the latest 4.13 version or later of LTT and also it will only be supported on the HP LTO5 drives with I3FS or later code and HP LTO4 drives with H64S (FC) or B63S (SCSI) or later codes.

The drive pulls the current "real time" from the PC/Server that is taking the dump off of the drive.  Whether it is the customer taking the dump with their server or the CSE taking the dump form their laptop via a magma box, the time stamp will come from that PC/Server.

Once the drive has the current time stamp from the time the dump is taken, it prints out the times for the dump after calculating what it should be by using the power on time of the drive.

Note:

Refer to the attached file for an example of the time stamp.
It shows a screen shot of what the time stamps look like from a HP LTO5 dump.
