How to Replace a Sun Ultra 27 Power Supply

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner.

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown.
System power off is required.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Power off the workstation.

2. Remove the left-side access panel.

3. Unplug the AC power cord from the system.

4. Gently lay the system on its right side on a stable, nonslip surface.

5. Disconnect the power connectors attached to the motherboard, DVD drive, and storage backplane.

6. While supporting the power supply from the interior of the workstation chassis, unscrew the four mounting screws on the back panel.

7. Remove the power supply from the interior of the system chassis.

8. Position the new power supply against the internal back panel and align the holes in the power supply with the holes in back panel.

9. Secure the power supply with the four screws.

10. Connect the power supply cables to the connectors on the motherboard, the DVD drive, the storage backplane, and the graphics card (optional).

11. Close the workstation and prepare for operation.


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
