5. WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?
Powering Off the server and Removing the Cover.
I. If the operating system (OS) is running, perform a shutdown of the OS, and then press and release the platform power button on the front panel.
II. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system.
III. Disconnect the AC power on the back panel of the server.
IV. Label and disconnect all peripheral cables and all telecommunication lines connected to I/O connectors or ports on the back panel of the system.
V. Before handling components, attach a wrist strap to a chassis ground (any unpainted metal surface).
VI. Loosen the two captive screws securing the cover to the chassis
VII. Pull the cover slightly toward the back of the server and then straight up to remove it.
VIII. Lift the cover and remove it.
Removing the I/O Board
The I/O board is located just above the optional HDD ( This is located at a side of the DVD ROM).
I. Remove all cables connected to the I/O board.
II. Remove the screws securing the I/O board to the DVD cage.
III. Pull the I/O board back slightly, then upwards to disengage the board from the guides on top of the HDD cage.
Installing the I/O board
I. Position the I/O board on top of the HDD cage so the openings on the board line up with the guides on top of the HDD cage.
II. Gently push the I/O board down to engage the guides and push the board forward to secure it.
III. Fasten the screws to secure the I/O board to the mounting bracket.
IV. Reconnect the cables.
V. Before reinstalling the cover on the server, check the routing of all cables for obstructions.
