How to Remove and Replace a C4 Fibre Channel Bridge:ATR:1337109.1:2 (Doc ID 1337109.1)

Provides a SCSI to Fibre Channel bridge.

Failure Indicators:
• The tape drives are no longer visible on the Fibre Channel network.

Knowledge of the C4 Library.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? 
C4 library needs to be offline from software application and server. 

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Refer to the C4 Field Service Manual for details to the actions below.

To remove and replace the Fibre Channel bridge:


1. Turn off the PX500 Series (see Turning Off the Library on page 45).
2. From the back of the library, disconnect all Ethernet, SCSI cables, and Fibre Channel cables from the FC1202 and note their locations for later re-installation.
3. Loosen both captive screws securing each FC1202 to the library chassis (see figure 86).
4. Gently press the ejector latches towards the outside of the bridge to disengage the FC1202 connector and remove the bridge from the library (see figure 86).
5. Gently press down on the FC1202 until the board is seated in the card cage and the ejector latches lock in place (see figure 86).
6. Tighten both captive screws securing each FC1202 to the library chassis.
7. Reconnect all SCSI, Fibre Channel, and Ethernet cables previously removed.
8. Refer to the Quantum FC1202 Fibre Channel Bridge Upgrade Instructions (PN 81-81351) for information on configuring the bridge.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
C4 needs to be powered on.  Brought online to the server and software application.  Verify the drives and library are available for use.
