DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Ability to work on C4 Library.

DELIVERY REQUIREMENT:
Schedule work with customer according to the Service Agreement.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?
Take C4 library offline to software application and server.  Power off the library.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Refer to the C4 (PX500 Series) Field Service Manual for complete instructions to assist with below actions.

Refer to the Sun StorEdge C4 Tape Library Unpacking and Installation Instructions for instructions to unpack and remove packing material from chassis.

To remove and replace the failed C4 (PX500 Series) chassis:
1. From the back of the library, disconnect all power, Ethernet, and SCSI cables from the library and note their locations for later reinstallation.

2. To remove the library chassis from the rack (see figure 83):
  a. Using the OCP, open the front doors and remove all tape cartridge magazines (see Library Operations on page 52).
  b. Loosen the captive screws securing the tape drives to the chassis and remove the tape drive(s) from the back of the library.
  c. Loosen the captive screw securing the power supplies to the chassis and remove the power supplies from the back of the library.
  d. Remove PHILLIPS screws securing each side of the chassis to the rack mounting rails and remove two Allen screws securing both clamps on the back of the library.
  e. Remove the library from the rack.

3. Install the replacement library chassis into the rack (see figure 83):
  a. Secure the library chassis to the rack mounting rails with two PHILLIPS screws on each side of the chassis and replace the clamps on the back of the library and secure with two Allen screws.
  b. Install the tape drive(s) into the library.
  c. Install the power supplies into the library.

  d. Verify that the packing material is removed from the robotic hand.
  e. Install all tape cartridge magazines and close the front doors.

The library chassis replacement is complete.


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Power C4 library on.  Bring C4 online to the server and software application.  Verify the library and drives a available.
