Goal

How to Replace a Sun Fire X2250 Disk Backplane.

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner.

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown.
System power off is required

Tools needed: #2 Philips screw driver and Antistatic wrap

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Remove the HDD

2. Remove the screws fastening the backplane assembly to the server chassis.

3. Carefully lift the HDD backplane assembly from the server chassis.

4. Disconnect the HDD power and SATA cables from the rear of the HDD backplane assembly.

5. Remove the screws fastening the HDD backplane to the backplane bracket.

6. Fasten the screws to secure the HDD backplane to the backplane bracket.

7. Reinstall the HDD power and SATA cables to the rear of the HDD backplane assembly.

8. Reinsert the HDD assembly into the server chassis.

9. Fasten the screws to secure the HDD backplane assembly to the server chassis.

10. Reinsert the HDD

11. Check the routing of all cables for obstructions, and then reinstall the cover.


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
