WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?: No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:Battery failure


WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

To prepare the server for installing the battery. Proceed with the following steps:

Powering Off the Server

Disconnecting Cables From the Server

Removing the Server From the Rack

Performing Antistatic Measures

Removing the Top Cover

Removing the PCI Mezzanine Assembly

 

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:

Removing the Battery

1. Gently depress the release tab and pull the battery out of the battery housing.

 

Installing the Battery

1. Remove the replacement battery from its packaging.

2. Carefully press the new battery in the slot.

 

Returning the Server to Operation

1. Install the top cover.  (Position the top cover on the chassis, and tighten the two green captive screws on the rear of the top cove).

2. Install the server into the rack.

3. Cable the server.

4. Power on the server.

 

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:

Verify functionality, no service LEDs or messages.
