Goal

I am attempting to change the resolution to my Sun Ray 3 Client. By default, the sessions run at 1280x1024 fine, but I want to change all the users to 1024x768 resolution. The resolutions appear to be set correctly:

bash-3.00# utresadm -p
# CID[:VO] TOKEN FLAGS RESOLUTION
IEEE802.0021288fb5f1 Payflex.5017cca000130100 -- 1024x768@60
IEEE802.0021288fdd21 Payflex.5017cc8e00130100 -- 1024x768@60
IEEE802.0021288fe551 Payflex.5017cc9200130100 -- 1024x768@60

...but it does not appear to be picking up this new resolution.  How do I set the resolution correctly ?

Solution

If the goal is to set the resolution for these users to 1024x768 for sessions connected from any Sun Ray rather than just the ones explicitly listed below, then you use the command:

# utresadm -a -c default -t default 1024x768@60

The preferred solution, however, is:

# utxconfig -r <resolution>

e.g

# utxconfig -r 1024x768

NOTE: The Administrator may also establish the X server preference for the specified token using '-b' option. Refer to " utxconfig" man page for more details). Also make sure the physical display is configured properly as well.

NOTE:Display resolutions and output options will vary per Sun Ray model.  Some models have two video outputs, usually a VGA-style (analog) and a DVI (digital) connection or two DVI-I (digital) outputs for wider viewing area.  Please view the product documentation for each respective device to find detailed technical specifications for the Sun Ray Client Device used in your environment.   An index of documentation is available on the Oracle Technical Network (OTN) here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/sun-ray-193669.html
