FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A Sun Fire X4275 Coin Cell Battery needs replacement
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
The battery maintains system time when the server is powered off and a time server
is unavailable. If the server fails to maintain the proper time when powered off and
not connected to a network, replace the battery.
1. Power off the server and disconnect the power cord (or cords) from the power supply (or supplies).
2. Slide the server out of the rack.
3. Remove the top cover.
4. To remove the battery, place you finger between the battery and side wall of the server chassis and push the battery away from the side wall
5. Twist the battery (either clockwise or counter-clockwise) and lift it out.
6. Unpackage the replacement battery.
7. Press the new battery into the battery holder with the positive side facing the server chassis side wall.
8. Install the top cover.
9. Install the server into the rack.
10. Power on
11. If the service processor is configured to synchronize with a network time server
using the Network Time Protocol (NTP), the ILOM clock will be reset as soon as
the server is powered on and connected to the network. Otherwise, proceed to
the next step.
12. If the service processor is not configured to use NTP, you must reset the ILOM
clock using the ILOM CLI or the web interface. For instructions, see the Sun
Integrated Lights Out Manager 2.0 User?s Guide (820-1188).
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Check for full system functionality
