Goal

The purpose of this document is to demonstrate how to configure a secondary head into a cluster.

To discuss this information further with Oracle experts and industry peers, we encourage you to review, join or start a discussion in the My Oracle Support Community - Disk Storage ZFS Storage Appliance Community

Solution

Before you start the configuration, ensure that the cluster card cabling is set up as shown in the Sun ZFS Storage 7000 System Administration Guide.

NOTE: To confirm that the cluster 'links' cabling is correctly configured - See Document ID 2081179.1

It is important that no configuration is carried out on the secondary head before attempting to set up cluster on the primary.

The secondary head will either need to be reset to factory defaults or have not been configured at all. It must boot up to the screen that shows:

Press any key to begin initial configuration ...

CAUTION - Do not press any key and do not allow the configuration to proceed any further on this head.

The full procedure to setup the cluster is detailed at:

http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E22471_01/html/820-4167/configuration__cluster.html#configuration__cluster__setup_procedure

If the device names do not match between the heads, use Document 1560329.1 or the procedure therein, to fix the issue.
