Goal

SL500 - How to Change CAP From I/O to Storage Cell Function

Solution

To change the function of the CAP (Cartridge Access Port) from I/O (Input/Output) operation to Storage cells, the following must be done:

Log in to CLI port with the "service or remote" user:

To print the current CAP configuration Enter the command: capconfig print

Example:   SERVICE>> capconfig print
               Module 1: io

Enter the command: cap x io or storage  (x = module number)

     Example: cap 1 storage
                      cap 1 io

A reboot of the SL500 is needed to enable the change.  The default of the CAP is I/O.
A Field Service Representative is required to enable this function.  It is not available via SL Console.

Refer to the SL500 Installation Manual, Chapter 4, Configuring the Library, for command information.

A Webex Session could be created with the CU to do all these steps in order to configure the CAP.
