How to Replace a Sun Fire X4275 Fan Board.

Sun Fire X4275 Training

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A Sun Fire X4275 Fan Board needs replacement

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.

Note: If this server is part of an Exadata, please follow shutdown instructions in DOC ID: 1188080.1

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Power off the server and disconnect the power cord (or cords) from the power
supply (or supplies).
2. Remove the top cover.
3. Remove the fan modules.
4. Remove the Phillips screw that secures the fan power board to the chassis
5. Slide the fan power board to the right to disengage it from the standoffs.
6. Turn the fan power board over and disconnect the two cables attached to its
underside.
7. Remove the fan power board from the system and place it on an antistatic mat.

Installation is the reverse of the above procedure

Power On

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Check for full system functionality
