WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A Sun Fire X4440 Paddle Card needs replacement

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

* Power Off the Server
* Extend the Server to the Maintenance Position
* Remove Server From the Rack
* Perform Electrostatic Discharge and Antistatic Prevention Steps
* Remove the Top Cover


WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Removing the Paddle Card

* Remove the motherboard assembly.
* Remove the power distribution board.
* Remove the fan power boards.
* Remove the two No. 2 Phillips screws securing the Paddle card to the chassis.
* Slide the Paddle card back, away from its connector on the drives backplane.
* Lift the Paddle card up and out of the chassis.
* Place the Paddle card on an antistatic mat.

Installing the Paddle Card

* Lower the Paddle card into the chassis.
The Paddle card card fits over a series of mushroom standoffs in the chassis side wall.
* Slide the Paddle card forward to plug it into the drives backplane.
* Secure the Paddle card with two No. 2 Phillips screws.
* Install the fan power boards.
* Install the power distribution board.
* Install the motherboard assembly.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
