Solution
DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE CUSTOMER/ENGINEER NEED:
Training and experience with 7120 NAS hardware and administration.
DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: As required
TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
FIELD INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
1. Refer to the BUI for exact slot locations for Fan Board "Maintenance -> Hardware -> show details -> Fan".
2. Shut down the appliance before beginning this task and disconnect the AC power chords.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER/ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Remove server from rack and attach antistatic wrist strap
2. Remove top cover(s)
3. Remove Fan Board Assembly
3.1 Remove the fan modules. See the fan module replacement procedure. (Doc ID 1316498.1)
3.2 Open the middle section to expose the SAS expander module and remove the module.
3.3 Slide the fan power board to the right to disengage it from the standoffs.
3.4 Disconnect the two cables attached to its underside.
4. Install Fan Board Assembly
4.1 Connect the two cables to the replacement fan power board's underside.
4.2 Slide the fan power board to the left to engage the standoffs.
4.3 Secure it to the chassis.
4.4 Reinstall the SAS expander module, then close the middle section of the fan standoffs.
4.5 Reinstall the fan modules.
5. Return system to operational state
5.1 Reseat the top cover on the chassis.
5.2 Close the fan cover and engage the fan cover latches.
5.3 Reinstall the appliance back in its original rack location.
5.4 Reconnect the cables to the back of the storage controller.
5.5 Connect the power cords.
5.6. Verify that standby power is on, indicated by the Power/OK LED flashing on the front panel about two minutes after the power cords are plugged in.
5.7 Use a pen, or other pointed object, to press and release the recessed Power button on the storage controller front panel. The Power/OK LED next to the Power button lights and remains lit. SSH to the service processor (SP) and check appliance power state, show /SYS power_state. If status is off issue the "start SYS" command to power up the appliance.
5.8 You must follow the procedure for creating a service account on the SP and copying the Product Serial Number to the Fan Board found in Sun ZFS Storage 7X20 Appliance Field Service Guide.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
Confirm the appliance is in a normal state. Check both BUI access and client data access.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Confirm there are no faults reported in the appliance BUI. Maintenance -> Problems or Maintenance -> Hardware -> show details -> Fan
