FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Hard Disk Drive Replacement

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
This should be a redundant component, dependent on initial array configuration and quantity of simultaneous disk drive faults. A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Follow standard ESD precautions.
Follow procedures documented in the respective service documentation listed below. The customer may have to re-register a standalone array with their management software.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

1) verify fru stat output shows new drive as ready enabled.

2) Drive reconstruction from any hot spares will depend on configuration. This is up to the customer to identify and resolve based on the References below.
