FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

Ethernet cable from storage to Ethernet switch faulty or suspected defective

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?

System can be up and running with I/O enabled .

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Identify the controller (upper or lower) the Ethernet cable is attached to
2. Unplug the defective Ethernet Cable from the array
3. Unplug the defective Ethernet cable cable from the Ethernet switch
4. Plug one end of the new Ethernet cable into the Ethernet connector on the same controller the array,
5. Plug the other end of the new Ethernet cable into the Ethernet switch
6. Verify connectivity by using StorEdge Automated Diagnostic Environment, or opening a telnet session with the array.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Verify connectivity by using StorEdge Automated Diagnostic Environment, or opening a telnet session with the array.
