DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
T3 / 6x20 product training

TASK COMPLEXITY: 4

TIME ESTIMATE: 180 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Replace centerplane and chassis on storage array.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Full verified backups of all data and operating systems potentially affected by service activities. This is a cold swap component and will require system down time. The array needs to be shut down and powered off for the duration of the service activity. POWER OFF RAID TRAYS FIRST. It may be optional to leave the host(s) booted, but it is up to the customer to ensure that all dependencies of the array to be serviced have been removed.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Follow standard ESD precautions.
Follow procedures documented in the respective service documentation listed below. Note that the documentation for the SE6x20 product includes cases for standalone SE6120 enclosures and how to handle an array chassis mounted in a Maserati rack. The customer may have to re-register a standalone array with their management software.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

1. Power on Array Expansions
2. Power on RAID Controller Trays(no particular order)
3. After 10 minutes, verify fru status(all parts should be ready enabled)
4. Verify volume status(vol stat - should show all volumes mounted)
5. Host Access should now be allowed.
