How to replace a V440/Netra 440 Battery

Solution

*DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS*

This Action Plan requires the use of a coin cell battery which the FE will usually supply. In some instances, the FE may contact dispatch to request that the battery be ordered.

FE INSTRUCTIONS

This action plan requires the use of a coin cell battery. The coin cell battery should be retrieved from your personal stock of coin cell batteries. If you cannot readily obtain the correct quantity of these batteries, please contact dispatch to arrange for order.

 

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner.

 

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*

 

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

Battery failed

 

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

 

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.

The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

 

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Power off the server

2. Wear an antistatic band to avoid the electrostatic discharge

3. open the top cover

4. Unclip and remove battery from system board
5. Remove the old battery & insert new battery

6. close the top cover

7. Power up the system

8. Set the Time & Date using the ALOM command setdate.

       setdate [[mmdd]HHMM | mmddHHMM[cc]yy][.SS]

 

 

Verify the system date & time is correct as set

 

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Followup the start-up procedure as set by sys-admin
