*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
key switch assembly not working
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
Power down the system
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Ensure that power to the server is off.
2. Wear an antistatic band to avoid the electrostatic discharge
3. Remove the front section of the lid assembly
4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the keyswitch assembly
5. Remove the locknut on the back of the keyswitch assembly
6. Remove the keyswitch assembly through the server's front panel
7. Locate the new keyswitch assembly through the server's frontpanel
8. Tighten the locknut onto the back of the keyswitch
9. Reconnect the wiring harness
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Follow the start-up procedure as prepared by sys-admin
