No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure
TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A Sun Fire X4240 Air Duct needs replacement
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Sys-admin required to shut the system down
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Removing the Air Duct:
Prepare the server for service.
Power off the server.
Disconnect the power cord (or cords) from the power supply (or supplies).
Slide the server out of the rack.
Attach an antistatic wrist strap.
Remove the top cover.
Slide the air duct to the right to disengage the left hand pin.
Move the air duct towards the back to clear the lip on the midwall.
Lift the air duct out of the server.
Set the air duct aside.
Installing the Air Duct
Install the air duct into the chassis:
Ensure that the air duct is aligned and fully seated in the chassis.
Move the air duct towards the front.
Slide the air duct to the left to engage the right hand pin.
Slide the air duct to the right to engage the left hand pin.
Return the server to operation.
Install the top cover.
Slide the server into the the rack.
Reconnect the power cord (or cords) to the power supply (or supplies).
Verify that the AC Present LED is lit.
Power on the server.
Caution - When the server is in operation, ensure that the air duct is correctly installed to prevent the system from overheating.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Sys-admin required to bring the system back online.
