FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

EMU card failed or defective.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :


The EMU module is hot-swappable and can be replaced with the array powered on and without interrupting I/O.


WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Check for solid yellow (fault) LED on the EMU front panel.

2. Turn the thumbscrews on the top and bottom of the failed EMU module counterclockwise until the thumbscrews are disengaged from the chassis.

3. Hold the thumbscrews, and pullout the EMU module.

4. Slide the new EMU module into the chassis until it is firmly seated in the backplane and the module's front panel is flush with the chassis.

5. Turn the thumbscrews on the top and the bottom of the EMU module clockwise until they are finger-tight, to secure the module.

6. Check for a solid green LED on the new EMU front panel.

7. Using CLI (sccli), check EMU status:

sccli> show enclosure-status

EMU status example:

EMU 0 OK 370-5394 100149
EMU 1 OK 370-5394 100226

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

No further action needs to be taken.
