Goal

How to Remove and replace arCSM100 Drive Cage/Midplane in SANtricity

   WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:
Has gone through basic 2500/6000 Array Hardware Introduction
SANtricity Storage Manager

  TIME ESTIMATE: 90 minutes
   TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: CSM100/FLA200/FLC200/FLA300 Disk Tray Midplane has been identified as faulty.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
Collect a support data from the array, prior to any action.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Before beginning the repair procedure below, deactivate ASR temporarily so that additional Service Requests are not created.
After completing the repair procedure, reactivate ASR. Refer to <Document 1508403.1> ASR Deactivation / Reactivation via My Oracle Support.

 
1. Ensure the customer has brought down all hosts attached to the array.
2. Identify and Power off the RAID controller tray
3. Power off the Tray identified for replacement
4. Remove power cables, and FC cables, denoting location of each
5. Use two people to remove the tray from the rack
6. Insert the new tray empty into the rack.
7. Transfer the ESMs, Fans, Power Supplies and Disk drives to the new tray, making sure to put all components into their original locations
8. Reconnect Power Cables and FC cables to original location
9. Set the Tray ID dial to the original tray setting
10. Power on the Tray
11. Power on the RAID Controller Tray

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN

OPERATIONAL STATE:
1. Verify That no critical faults exist on the system
2. Verify That all drives in the affected tray can be seen in SANtricity
3. Verify all volumes are in an optimal state.
4. Customer should boot the attached hosts, and verify that data can be accessed
5. If applies, reactivate ASR.
