Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
How to replace a Tape Drive

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown.
System power off is required.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Ensure system is shut down

2. Remove front bezel

3. Loosen media tray/retention screws and remove tape drive.

4. Remove tape drive

5. Install replacement tape drive (ensure new drive's SCSI ID is set to "5")

6. Replace front bezel

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
