FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Fast Write Cache (NVRAM card) failure
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Errors related to this card are logged into /var/adm/messages file.
Use following command to determine the card slot to be replaced :
# fwcadm nvram -s
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?: *** Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge
1. Enable the NVRAM card batteries. These are 3, each one with its own jumper
2. Put the jumpers on the jumper pins
3. Follow the procedure documented to replace an Sbus card in the manuals referenced below.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?: Type the following command to verify that the NVRAM cards are properly installed :
# fwcadm nvram -s
