FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: SBus IO board failure
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown. System power off is required.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?: *** Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge
1. Label cables (attached to the IO) to identify them for reconnection later
2. Use an screwdriver to mechanically release the board from the system card cage 3. Unfasten any cable connectors from the front panel and set them aside.
4. Pull the ends of both extraction levers outward simultaneously to unseat the board from the centerplane receptacles
5. Push the replacement board into the card cage, then simultaneously press both extraction levers to seat the board on the centerplane
6. Lock the board by using a screwdriver
7. Connect all the IO cables into the board
DO NOT FORCE any board into a slot; this can cause damage to the board and system. The board should insert and seat smoothly.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:
Verify the green led is lit.
At the Solaris level, verify that everything starts with no errors.
