FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

Internal SCSI termination module failed or defective. Replacement needed.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Suspend all I/O activity. Power off the array (both power supplies must be turned off).

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Be sure that both power supply modules of the array are powered off.

2.Write down the cabling configuration for the SCSI I/O module and expansion unit connections so that you can reconnect the cables correctly with the new SCSI I/O module. Write down the bus configuration (split-bus or single-bus configuration).

3. Remove connected to the controller modules.

4. Remove both controller modules by turning the thumbscrews (located on the right and left sides of them) counterclockwise, and pulling out the controllers from the chassis.

5. Hold the termination module by the front edges and pull it out of the chassis.

6. Slide the new terminator module into the chassis until it is seated in the backplane.

7. Reinstall both controller modules by sliding them into the chassis until they are seated in the backplane and then turning the thumbscrews (located at the right and lkeft sides of each controller module) clockwise until they are finger-tight.

8. Reinstall cables in their original positions.

9. Power on both power supply modules of the array.

10. Verify the status of array components is OK, from sccli > sh config

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Resume I/O activity
