A video procedure on how to Remove and Replace a M4000 M5000 IO Unit
Solution
DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Engineer should be M4000/M5000 product trained
TASK COMPLEXITY: 2
TIME ESTIMATE: 45 Minutes
FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Turn key switch to the Service position, confirming that the POWER LED is off, and disconnect power cables
Remove the I/O unit
1. Disconnect and label all the cables that connect to the I/O unit.
2. Remove the cassettes from the I/O unit.
3. Disconnect the cabinet end of the cable management arm.
4. Using a No. 1 screwdriver, press the lock button on the left side of the I/O unit to free the unit release lever
5. Lower the unit release lever to unseat the I/O unit.
6. Remove the I/O unit from the slot and place it on the ESD mat.
7. Verify the new IOU has the DDC's properly installed.
Installation is the reverse of the above procedure
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot and check for full functionality.
Confirm the hardware by running the following commands:
XSCF> showhardconf -M
XSCF> showstatus
