Mseries training and basic field engineer skills
TASK COMPLEXITY: 2
TIME ESTIMATE: 90 minutes
FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Shut down all applications (if running) on all domains on platform.
Shut down all domains.
Power off the platform.
ESD Safety: Ensure ESD strap is connected to field engineer and platform chassis
Unplug the power cords (Make sure to be at the same potential as the system).
Remove CD/DVD Drive and place on antistatic mat
Install DVD drive.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
