WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Engineer has to complete the OPL system training

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

TIME ESTIMATE: 20 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. From the Solaris prompt, type the cfgadm command to get the component status.
Ap_Id includes the IOU number (iou#0 or iou#1) and the PCI slot number
(pci#1, pci#2, pci#3, pci#4).
# cfgadm -a
In cfgadm output the device will be seen connected & configured in Occupant & Condition column respectively
2. Type the cfgadm command to disconnect the component from the domain:
# cfgadm -c disconnect Ap_Id
3. Type the cfgadm command to confirm the component is now disconnected.
# cfgadm -a
In cfgadm output the device will show disconnected & unconfigured in Occupant & Condition column respectively
4. Indentify the correct location of the FC card before pulling out the FC cable
5. Replace the FC cable with new FC cable
6. Type the below command to configure the fibre card
# cfgadm -c configure Ap_Id
# cfgadm -a
In cfgadm output the device will be seen connected & configured in Occupant & Condition column respectively
7. Verifying Hardware Operation

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
N/A
