GoalHow to remove and replace M4000 DAT Backplane******************************************************************************** SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONSWHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?) Engineer should be M4000/M5000 product trained TASK COMPLEXITY: 2 TIME ESTIMATE: 45 Minutes FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution. The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: 1. Turn key switch to the Service position, confirming that the POWER LED is off, and disconnect power cables 2. Remove the fan cover Remove the 60-mm fan backplane 1. Observe how the cable bundle routes beneath the left front edge of the 60-mm fan backplane. This routing must be duplicated when the backplane unit is reinstalled 2. Remove the three (3) cable connectors on the forward edge of the 60-mm fan backplane 3. Loosen the two (2) green captive screws 4. Remove the 60-mm fan backplane from the server and place it on the ESD mat Remove the CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane. 1. Remove the CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Unit from the server and place it on the ESD mat 2. Remove the power and serial cables from the rear of the CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane 3. Loosen the captive screw that holds the rear of the CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane in place 4. Remove the CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane and place it on the ESD mat Remove the tape drive backplane 1. Remove the tape drive unit from the server and place it on the ESD mat 2. Remove the power cable (p4) from the tape drive backplane 3. Disconnect the blue serial cable from the tape drive backplane 4. Loosen the captive screw that holds the tape drive backplane (TAPEBP) in place and lift the tape drive backplane (TAPEBP) from the guide pins and place the backplane on the ESD mat Installation is the reverse of this procedure WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Boot and check for full functionality Confirm the hardware by running the following commands: XSCF> showhardconf -M XSCF> showstatus PARTS NOTE: REFERENCE INFORMATION: Service Manual: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19855-01/index.html Attachments This solution has no attachment |
