Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?: No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure

TASK COMPLEXITY: 0

TIME ESTIMATE: 15 minutes

REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.

Power supply redundancy only exists when running all power supplies with 230VAC input power.
If the system is running on 110VAC input power, the customer does need to shutdown the system before replacing a power cord.
If the system is running on 230VAC input power, as long as the system has its minimum number of power supplies connected to input power and providing power to the system, the customer does not need to shutdown the system before replacing a power cord.

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:

1. Identify which power cord you will replace.
The power inlets are numbered from 0 on the right hand side when viewed from the rear.
The power supplies are numbered from 0 on the left hand side when viewed from the front
2. Disconnect the power cord from the power inlet that you are replacing
3. Install replacement power cord

WHAT ACTION ARE NEEDED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Check PSU LEDs to show that replaced power cord is functioning.
Check the output of the command "showlogs -r -M monitor" , and wait for the "Power recovery completed" message.
This is what you should see when replacing the AC power cord for PSU3:

Nov 17 14:54:50 m5000-tvp540-xscf monitor_msg: SCF:Power failure (/PSU#3)
Nov 17 14:55:18 m5000-tvp540-xscf monitor_msg: SCF:Power recovery start(/PSU#3)
Nov 17 14:55:42 m5000-tvp540-xscf monitor_msg: SCF:Power recovery complete(/PSU#3)
